Cheryl Wowk

Cheryl Wowk has had a 45 year career as a School Counsellor and Teacher. She is the author of Super Miraculous Me! and the creator of  “EQ Evolution”, a curriculum designed to help students grow their Emotional Intelligence.  Together, the purpose of the children’s book and curriculum is to teach children how to create healthy relationships with themselves (Self Smarts) and others (People Smarts).   EQ Evolution Inc. offers a full curriculum, complete with behavioural consulting services, throughout Western Canada.

Cheryl Wowk’s 44 year career as a teacher and school counsellor has afforded her the opportunity to live her life on purpose by sharing her passion for youth development at all levels: Elementary, Middle/Junior High and Secondary.  She has a Bachelors of Education General and attended the University of Regina in Saskatchewan and Universite Laval in Quebec City.  She has been an educator in Regina, Lethbridge and Red Deer and feels privileged and blessed to have worked with so many incredibly unique and special young miracles during her lifetime.

  • Created the initial Counselling Program for alternative students in Red Deer Public School District
  • First Red Deer Public representative on the High Risk Youth Coalition interagency board in Red Deer

  • Senior Coach at Choices Seminars (Calgary) Personal Development Adult and Youth  Programs - (Group Facilitator)
  • Creator of “E. Q. Evolution” - a curriculum designed to help students grow their Emotional Intelligence through self regulation and self control while making positive life choices
  • Designated “At-Risk” Counsellor at Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School targeting students with severe emotional and behavioural disorders
  • Created the Grief Protocol for Red Deer Public School District
  • Trained in Level I and II Threat Assessment
  • Trained in Suicide Assessment
  • Created and facilitated the “Imagine Action” team at Glendale Sciences and Technology School 2017-18.  This is a student led school club, based on John Lennon’s song, “Imagine”, whereby students examine their school and community cultures through the lenses of “Imagine what if things could be better???” then create and implement action plans accordingly
  • Co-ordinator of the Peacebuilders Youth Leadership Action Initiative in 2018-2019 in conjunction with Burman University and the John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Justice in Edmonton
